Gaius Valerius Catullus, 13 "To Fabullus: A Dinner Invitation"

Catullus invites a friend to dinner, but only if the friend brings everything.

mi Fabulle, cenam bonam habebis apud villam meam in paucis diebus, si di te amant, si tecum portabis bonam magnamque cenam, et si feres candidam puellam, et si feres vinum salemque et si feres cachinnas.

 

dico, si haec ad villam meam portabis, cenam bonam habebis; nam sacculus tuis Catulli vacuus est.

 

Sed dabo tibi veros amores vel dabo id quod suavius elegantiusve est: nam dabo tibi unguentem, quod Venus Cupidoque puellae meae dedit.

 

Unguentum quod cum tu olfacies (sensus naso), rogabis deos ut te faciant totum nasum.
