GRAMMATICA
Operatives, throughout your journey thus far you have encountered numerous verb forms that have ended in -re. These forms are called the infinitive and provide us with the "to verb" definition. When you look at the dictionary entry for all verbs the second form listed (the second principal part) is always the present infinitive.

This form is vital for us to determine which conjugation (group) that the verb belongs to. The vowel that is before the -re determines which group the verb is a part of. Consider the following:
