KEY-TEXT
Latīnus erat stupefactus. olim oraculum eī dīxit, “in futurō aliēnus, quī in Trōiā habitābat, Latium vistābit. debēs eī in matrimoniō fīliam tuam, Laviniam, dāre.”

GRAMMATICA
Operatives, you have already begun to attune yourself to the imperfect endings of the third person singular and plural. You will recall that the hallmark of the imperfect tense is the -ba- that appears before the ending. The Demiurge wishes now to make you aware the complete set of endings for the imperfect tense. Consider the following:
singular | plural | |||
1st Person (ego) | amābam | I was loving | amābāmus | We were loving |
2nd Person (tū) | amābās | You were loving | amābātis | You all were loving |
3rd Person | amābat | He/she/it was loving | amābant | They were loving |
You’ll quickly realize that with the exception of the first person singular (-ō has become -m), all of the endings are the same as they are in the present tense. Again, only the -ba- serves as the indicator that a verb is in the imperfect tense.
Operatives are reminded that it may be helpful to view this video briefing courtesy of latintutorial.com.
