trēs lapidēs, trēs inscrīptiōnēs. Sextus eōs in forō posuit et Recentiōs respexit.

 

"legite," inquit. "haec sunt verba Sociētātis Potentium. haec nōbīs dīcent ubi Lapis est."

 

caelum suprā eōs obscūrius fiēbat. pumicēs cadēbant. tempus nōn erat.

 

Lapis I:

 

invēnimus Lapidem in Aegyptō. Cleopātrae patrēs Lapidem dedērunt, et rēgīnam dēlectat.

 

Lapis II:

 

Lapidemne quaeritis? nōn habētis sīgnum, et nōn in cellam intrātis. sōlum sīgnātī in cellam intrant. vōs interficimus, vōs sine sīgnō.

 

Lapis III:

 

habitāmus nunc in Aegyptō, sub terrā. vēnimus in Alexandrīam, et invēnimus cavum antīquum. in locō Lapidem antīquī posuērunt, et nunc servāmus potentiam in Lapide.

 

Sextus Recentiōs spectāvit. "quid inscrīptiōnēs dīcunt? ubi est Lapis? et quid est necessārium ut intrētis?"

 


 Recentiī inscrīptiōnēs lēgērunt. quid intellēxērunt?

 

Option A: Recentiī respondent: "Lapis in Aegyptō est, sub terrā, prope Alexandrīam. sīgnum necesse est."

 

Option B: Recentiī dubitant: "nōn certī sumus. Sexte, adiuvā nōs!"
