Episode 2.2.b

>Vīlla Sextī, Pompēiī, 79 CE<

2.2b

"bene," inquit Sextus. "tempus est. nunc egō initium sciō:

'Gāius Cilnius Maecēnās scrībit librum. liber sīgnificat locum. in locō est lapis.'"

"nunc tū quoque initium scīs. egō volūmen dēsīderō."

(Sextus knows only the opening of the scroll. The rest is what you must bring back. Marcus has many scrolls in his villa, so the initium is your key to finding the right one.)

Sextus chartam Pompēiōrum tibi dat. in chartā est sīgnum: vīlla Marcī.

"vīlla Marcī," inquit Sextus, "prope palaestram et amphitheātrum stat. Marcus dīves est. Marcus potēns est. Marcus multōs custōdēs habet. sed mediā nocte custōdēs saepe dormiunt. mediā nocte īte!"

Sextus cōgitat. "ad iānuam semper stat ūnus custōs. sed Caecilius negōtium cum Marcō agit. fortasse custōs Caecilium scit. fortasse vōs estis clientēs Caeciliī, hāc nocte?"

Prompt: Using your charta and the TSTT NAV Device, plan a route to Marcus's villa that keeps you unseen, or at least seen by as few people as possible. Marcus's villa is at location IV on your charta.
