Episode 6.2.b
>On Aeneas's ship, at sea near Carthage<
You are on Aeneas's ship, riding out through the swell, and Carthage falls away on the shore behind you, small already and growing smaller. The wind has filled the sails, and for the first time in a long while the sailors have something like good spirits about them.
"The Carthaginians were no friends to us," one of them says. "They wanted our labor. They never wanted us."
Another laughs. "And now the sea is ours again."
Then a third sailor shouts from the stern, and there is no laughter in it. "Smoke! Smoke over Carthage!"
Everyone crowds to the stern, and you go with them. Far off on the Carthaginian shore, an enormous column of smoke is climbing into the sky, black and high. Something large is burning there, though the distance keeps you from seeing what.
Aeneas comes to the rail. He watches the smoke in silence, and something heavy settles into his face, as though he already knows who, or what, is burning there.
He turns to you, and he hesitates.
"What do you feel, young ones? Should we turn back to Carthage? Perhaps the fates were wrong."
Prompt: Persuade Aeneas not to turn the ships around. He loves prophecies, so you may invent one for him if you wish.
