Episode 4.2.a

>Caecilius's Villa, Pompeii, Italy, 79 CE<

You surface slowly from the Trojan hall, Sextus's tablīnum reassembling itself around you piece by piece. Sextus is already setting the tablet aside, satisfied.

"Good," he says. "Now go to Caecilius. He will want to see you."

Caecilius's dining room is warm and smells of roasted meat and good wine. He is already at the table, reclining in the way of a man who takes his evening meal seriously, and he waves you toward a couch with the ease of someone who has never doubted that hospitality is one of the things he does well. Tiberius is there too, sitting up straighter than strictly necessary, watching you with bright, interested eyes.

Caecilius looks at you both for a moment, weighing something.

"Literature," he says. "Do you know it?" He glances at Tiberius, then back to you. "Vergil? Horace? Cicero? These are the writers who matter. Every educated Roman knows them." He reaches for his cup. "So. What do you know?"

Prompt: Show Caecilius that you know something about one or more of those writers. Major bonus LP if you choose one who goes along with your world-view, or if you choose one who doesn't and explain why.
