>Outskirts of Pompeii, Italy, 79 CE<
The road out of the city cuts straight through open farmland. The mountain is everywhere you look, filling the northern sky. It is a hot, still day, like most summer days in Italy. However, you can't help but feel a bit unsettled in this world.
Suddenly, a man steps into your path. He looks you over slowly, like he is deciding something.
"What," he says, "is your name?"
Prompt: Answer the man. You are not required to give him your real nōmen.
A sudden, strange feeling sweeps over you. Time seems to stop.
Lusura, the green-winged owl, flutters in.
"This is it, operatives," Lusura says. "The mission has begun. Your first real challenge, and you won't be entirely on your own. At the end of each TSTT-immersion you'll find a path to the CODEX. The CODEX is the tool Mission Control built for you, full of everything you need to play your Recentius well. Always consult it before deciding how to act.
