Episode 2.3: In the House of Marcus Maecenas

 

Bellātor statuam intentē inspicit. spectat faciem statuae. faciēs est maligna. Bellātor horret quod statua est maligna.

 

in manū sinistrā statuae est lapis parvus. Bellātor lapidem inspicit et conspicit rīmam in lapide.

 

“ō Octāviāna,” inquit Bellātor, “lapis, quem statua tenet, rīmam habet! est aliquid in rīmā!”

 

Octāviāna quoque lapidem inspicit.

 

“aliquid in rīmā lūcet! habet colōrem rubrum. estne fortassē gemma? estne carbunculus?” rogat Octāviāna.

 

“nesciō,” rēspondet Bellātor, “sed fortassē est vestīgium. Marcus Lapidem habēre vult. statua in larāriō lapidem tenet. fortassē familia Marcī Lapidem habēbat?”
