Sextus tabulam cērātam tenēbat et legēbat. subitō lūx mūtāta est.

 

Recentiī nōn iam in vīllā Sextī erant. nunc in magnā aulā stābant. columnae altae erant; flammae in igne ārdēbant; multī virī in sellīs sedēbant.

 

ūnus vir ante omnēs stābat. barbam longam habēbat et sceptrum aureum tenēbat. magnā vōce clāmābat:

 

"rēgēs Graeciae! audīte! Paris Helēnam cēpit. Helēna uxor Menelāī erat. Paris hospes Menelāī erat, sed fidem frēgit. hoc bellum nostrum est!"

 

omnēs clāmābant. tum vir sceptrum sustulit et Recentiōs vīdit.

 

"et vōs, hospitēs! cūr hīc stātis? venīte ad cōnsilium."

 

Octāviāna ad Bellātōrem spectāvit; deinde ambō ad cōnsilium prōcessērunt. trēs virī eōs tacitī spectābant.

 

sed dum vir barbātus ad sellam redībat, sēcum mūrmurābat. verba obscūra erant: aliquid dē rē pretiōsā, aliquid dē Trōiā. Bellātor mūrmur audīvit, sed verba nōn intellēxit.
