"venī!" Bellātor clāmāvit. "tē ad tūtum locum dūcēmus!"

 

Bellātor Plīnium surgere temptāvit. sed Plīnius gravis erat, et fessus, et iam paene mortuus. nōn potuit sē movēre. nōn voluit.

 

"nōn... nōn possum," Plīnius dīxit. "sed... audīte..."

 

inter tussēs et spīritūs labōrantēs, Plīnius pauca verba dīxit:

 

"Aegyptus... sub terrā... cavum..."

 

et nihil amplius. oculī eius clausī sunt. spīritus lēnior factus est. lēnior. et cessāvit.

 

Bellātor Plīnium spectāvit. nihil facere poterat. nōbile erat Plīnium servāre voluisse. sed Plīnius iam ultrā auxilium erat. et verba quae dīcere poterat nunc dicta nōn erant.

 

Sextus Recentiōs ā Plīniō trāxit. "nihil amplius facere possumus," quiētē dīxit. oculī eius trīstēs erant.
