Bellātor surgit. cōnfīdēns est.

 

"certē sciō!" Bellātor clāmat. "Rōmānī māgnōs scrīptōrēs habuērunt! exemplī grātiā... Horātius Maximus! ille... ille erat poēta gladiātōrum! carmina dē gladiātōribus scrīpsit!"

 

silentium longum.

 

Caecilius Bellātōrem spectat. Tiberius ōs suum manū tegit. rīdēre vult sed nōn audet.

 

"Horātius... Maximus?" Caecilius lentē dīcit. "poēta gladiātōrum?"

 

Caecilius suspirat.

 

"nōn est tālis scrīptor, amīce. fortasse alius in hōc triclīniō plūs scit?"

 

Caecilius Octaviānam spectat.
