Herculēs victor ad lītus stābat. mōnstrum in mare fūgit. Recentiī laetī erant.

 

sed Lāomedōn ad lītus vēnit. nōn erat laetus.

 

"mōnstrum fūgit," inquit Lāomedōn. "sed mōnstrum nōn mortuum est. tū mōnstrum nōn vīcistī. tū mōnstrum reppulistī."

 

Herculēs īrātus erat. "ego pugnāvī! ego mōnstrum reppulī! equōs mihi dā!"

 

Lāomedōn negāvit. "pactum erat: 'sī mōnstrum vincis, equōs dabō.' tū mōnstrum nōn vīcistī. mōnstrum vīvit. pactum nōn est perfectum."

 

Herculēs clāvam tenēbat. vōx eius gravis erat. "Lāomedōn," inquit, "hoc nōn est iūstum."

 

Lāomedōn rīsit. "ego rēx sum. ego dīcō quid iūstum est."
