P. Vergilius Maro, Aeneid 10.721–729

When Mezentius spots Acron in his purple wedding finery, he charges like a starving lion that has caught sight of a fleeing deer.

Tier 1

Cum Mezentius hunc Graecum miscentem media linea exercitus vidit, purpureum pennis et gerentem vestem purpureum uxoris futurae,

sicut leo, qui nullum cibum multos dies consumpsit, errans silvam, nam cibum insane vult, si forte capream fugacem conspexit aut cervum minorem, leo aperiens magnum os gaudet, capillos horruit, accumbens super visceribus, cruor foedus lavit improba ora,

sic Mezentius celer ruit in densos hostes.
