P. Vergilius Maro, Aeneid 12.803-812

Iuppiter orders Iuno to cease her persecution of the Troianos, and she acknowledges his will — but not without reminding him of what she could have done.

Tier 1

Iuppiter dixit:

finis adest. tu Troianos per terram et per mare agitare potuisti. bellum saevum incendisti. domos Troianorum delevisti. nuptias tristes fecisti. nunc desiste. hoc veto.

Iuno respondit:

voluntas tua mihi nota est, Iuppiter. ideo Turnum et terras invita reliqui. ego plus facere volui. In acie cum flammis stare volui. ipsa Troianos in proelium trahere volui. sed non potui.
