Quintus Horatius Flaccus, Carmina 1.2.45–52

Horace closes with a prayer that Augustus, revealed as the god's earthly form, remain long among the Roman people as father and first citizen, and lead them to victory over the Medes.

Tu redeas post multos annos in caelum et diu tu sis laetus inter populum Quirini, neve celerior ventus portet te iratum nostris vitiis;

potius quam illud tu adsis hic ad magnos triumphos, tu ames hic dici pater et princeps, neque tu, Caesar, sinas Medos equitare sine poeniis, te duce.
