Gaius Valerius Catullus, Carmen 63.74-83

Cybele hears Attis's lament and responds by unleashing one of her lions, commanding it to drive Attis back into the forest in a frenzy so that they will not escape her power.

Tier 1

ut Attis haec dixit, dea id audivit,

Cybele solvit leones suos et leonem sinistrum agit et ita loquitur:

'age i ferox, fac ut Attis insanus fiat

fac ut Attis reveniat ad silvam insanus,

Attis qui cupit fugere mea imperia multo libere.

age, pulsa terga tua cauda tua, sustine verbera tua,

fac ut tota loca resonent clamore tuo,

ferox leo, quate rubram coronam forte collo tuo.'
