The male chorus has the final word: a girl's virginity does not belong to her alone but is shared with her parents, who have already given their rights along with her dowry — so she should not resist her husband.

(pueri etiam nunc dicunt) et tu puella, noli pugnare cum marito. non decet est pugnare cum eo cui pater ipse te tradidit, necesse est tibi parere parentibus.

 

virginitas tua non est tota tua. virginitas est et tua et patris tui et matris tuae.

 

noli pugnare cum duobus parentibus, qui te marito simul cum dote dederunt.

 

o Hymenaee Hymen, veni o Hymenaee Hymen!
