P. Vergilius Maro, Aeneid 6.788–800

Anchises shows his son Aeneas a vision of the souls awaiting rebirth, pointing out Augustus Caesar among the great Romans who will one day rule the world.

Anchises dīxit: "nunc aspice hūc et vidē hanc gentem. Rōmānī tuī sunt. hīc est Caesar et omnis familia Iūliī quae veniet sub magnum caelum.

hīc vir, hic est. deī eum tibi saepe prōmīsērunt. Augustus Caesar est, fīlius deī Iūliī. ille aurea saecula faciet rūrsus in agrīs Latiī, sīcut quondam sub Sāturnō erat. et augēbit imperium Rōmānum super omnēs gentēs quae procul sunt, ad fīnēs terrārum. ibi procul Atlās est, quī caelum portat et stellās vertit.

iam nunc gentēs quae procul sunt eum timent. deī eīs dīxērunt: ille veniet et terra Nīlī timet."
