P. Vergilius Maro, Aeneid 12.791–796

Iuppiter challenges Iūnō as she watches the battle from a golden cloud, asking how long she intends to oppose the fate that destines Aenēās for heaven.

Iuppiter, rēx Olympī omnipotentis, Iūnōnem vīdit. Iūnō in aureā nūbe stābat et pugnās spectābat. Iuppiter ad eam dīxit:

'quis fīnis erit, coniūnx? quid restat? tū ipsa scīs: Aenēās [deus locī futūrus] ad caelum ascendere dēbet — fāta hoc volunt. quid igitur parās? cūr adhūc in nūbibus manēs?'
