C. Valerius Catullus, Carmen 64.124–131

The narrative returns to Ariadne on the shore. The passage describes her movements and her grief before she begins the long speech that follows.

Tier 1

Ariadna saepe flēbat. Ariadna saepe clāmōrēs ē pectore mittēbat. Ariadna īrāta erat. cor Ariadnae quasi flammā ārdēbat.

Ariadna ad altōs montēs ascendēbat. Ariadna mare spectābat. tum in undās maris currēbat. vestēs tollēbat.

tum Ariadna maesta extrēma verba dīxit. lacrimae per ōs Ariadnae fluēbant.
