Catullus eagerly awaits meeting up with Veranius, who has been away for a while.

Verani, optime amice ex omnibus milibus meis amicis,

 

venistine domum ad tuos penates, et fratres, et matrem antiquam?

 

venisti. o laeta dies!

 

videbo te securum et audiam te narrantem loca, et facta, et nationes Hiberum, ut mos tuus est.

 

tenebo te et oscula dabo tuo collo iucundum et os et oculos.

 

o quam magnum est hominum fortunatiorum, quid laetius est quam ego?
