Gaius Valerius Catullus, 2a "Jealousy of Lesbia's Sparrow"

Catullus is jealous of his girlfriend's pet bird.

mea puella avem parvam habet. puella mea cum ave saepe ludit. puella mea avem in sinu suo saepe tenet.

 

si avis os suum aperit, puella mea digitum suum in ore eius saepe ponit. avis digitum eius mordet.

 

hoc est cum id placet meae puellae iocari carum ludum et parvum solacium sui doloris.

 

credo ut tum ardor gravis puellae dormit: volo ludere tecum sicut mea domina. volo levare tristes curas animi.

Probably a fragment of another poem discussing Atalanta and the golden apples that helped defeat her in a foot race.
