Episode 12.1.a
>Alexandria, Aegyptus, 80 CE<
You are still sick from the training when you hear Tertius's voice. He is standing outside the mouth of the cave, and he is talking with someone young.
". . . yes, that's right. My twin brother," the young voice is saying.
"But you aren't twins! You talk exactly alike, you and he."
"Not so, my boy. I have never seen you before in my life. But it does me good to hear that you remember my brother."
It is Tiberius.
Something crackles in your ear. "Mission Control here, Operatives. Please remain calm, but don't move from where you are. The TSTT is already showing some artifacts because of Tiberius's suspicion. We're hoping Tertius can put him off."
While you listen, the wall of the cave moves closer to you.
"Here, young man," says Tertius. "You like this charta, I think. Take it, in memory of Sextus. And farewell!"
The wall draws back to where it was. A low sound, like thunder a long way off, has been under everything for some time without your quite hearing it, and now it stops.
Tertius comes back in. His face is set hard. "That was close," he says. "You have to stay clear of him. If he sees you, all of it comes apart."
He asks about the training. You tell him what you learned: the Carthaginians took the Lapis, off the Lipari Islands. His whole face changes.
"Well done! That is a fine thing you've done. You've found the trail! So, what next? The Musaeum!"
He goes on. "The next training will help you even more, but you can't take it yet. A training leaves you weak afterward, and we have to wait. In the meantime you should go to the old Musaeum. But first, tell me what you know about it."
Prompt: Answer Tertius.
