Tertius Aemilianus lives underground, in a cave near the harbor. It is not large. Water runs down the walls, and the whole place smells of dead fish. To you the smell is dreadful. Tertius, who is a figure of the TSTT, smells nothing at all, and counts himself well housed.
"I have the map," he says. You wonder how that can be, since you left it in Salvius's hands in Britannia. Then you understand: the TSTT keeps a copy of the map in its memory.
A thought follows the first one. Tiberius found the map in Egypt. So this is the map that Tiberius is going to be given...
"Don't think about the map," says Tertius. "If you think about it too hard, you'll break the world. Or break my world, at least.
"We have to find the next clue. You've seen the map, so you know the praetorium of the Societas Potentium is somewhere near. But where? We don't know. We could search the desert around the pyramids forever and be no closer to the Societas Potentium. We need more information. So let's start with what is known right now about the pyramids, and who made them, and what they might have to do with the Lapis."
