Episode 10.2.b
>Villa of Salvius, Southwest of Londinium, Britannia, 81 CE<
"You're absurd," Salvius growls. "Then again, I never learned much at school either. School was a stupid business."
He paces the little room, back and forth.
"The Recentii have told you the truth, Salvius," Tiberius says. Unfortunately, Tiberius is a poor liar, and everyone in the room knows it.
"No," says Salvia. "It's my fault..."
Salvius is not a man who lets himself stay uncertain for long. He makes up his mind on the spot.
"Listen to me. The Societas Potentium has always kept an eye out for clever young people. Since the principate began, the young don't come forward the way they once did. So here is how we proceed. You will tell me why you would want to be Potentes, and we go on from there. Salvia, I will deal with you later. Out!"
Salvia goes out into the atrium. At the threshold, her back still to her father, she lets one of the sheets she is carrying slip onto the nearest shelf. It is the Horace. Her eyes find yours for a single moment, and then she is gone. She does not look back at him.
Prompt: Answer Salvius. Why might the Recentii wish to be Potentes? Reason from your Recentius's worldview.
