Episode 9.1.b

You see Septimus coming across the field, and soon he is standing over you.
"Up!" he says. "Get up! You are not safe here. Salvius has it in his head that you are runaway slaves."
He keeps glancing about him as you run for his villa. Inside, you sit in the triclinium, and he lets out a long breath.
"Good. Safe enough, I think. Now tell me what happened. The guards who were with me that day, they were Salvius's men. This villa, my own house, was packed to the doors with them."
His eye falls on your arm, where the mark is, and he tilts his head. Whatever he sees there, it is not what you see: no stone, no lightning. "You have been lying in wet grass," he says. "Look, the skin has come up red. Does it hurt?"
Then he sits back and waits. He wants to hear it.
