"Good to see you again," says Sinistrus. "Time to rough out the shape of the thing. You have your three arguments. Now you need evidence to stand them on."
Without warning, five panels of the glass walls slide aside, and behind each one is a marvelous shining window. Beneath each window sits a strange machine, covered over with little squares, each square set apart from its neighbors, and on every square a letter.
"The Recentii press the little squares," says Sinistrus, with his usual smirk, "and the windows show magic pictures. The Recentii find knowledge in the magic pictures, when they make the little squares spell the words that the magic window can fish out of its great basket of words and pictures."
There are words in the magic window. One word stands larger than the rest: GUGILIUM. Beneath it is a long box, and in the box a line flashes, then vanishes, then flashes again, then vanishes.
