Octāviāna sē servāre temptāvit. "mē capere nōn potes," inquit. "ego sum cīvis Rōmāna. cīvis sum, nōn serva."

 

sed Adrogāns rīsit. "cīvis? omnēs servī hoc dīcunt. quōmodo sciō tē cīvem esse? ubi est signum?"

 

Octāviāna haesitāvit. signum cīvis nōn ostendit. dē tribus nōminibus nōn dīxit, dē lēge nōn dīxit, dē teste nōn dīxit. itaque verba eius vacua erant, et Adrogāns nōn crēdidit.

 

"verba sōla mē nōn movent," inquit Adrogāns.
