C. Valerius Catullus, Carmen 66.71–78

The lock turns aside to address Nemesis, the goddess of retribution, called here the maiden of Rhamnus. The passage is its confession about its new place in the sky.

Tier 1

virgō Ramnūsia, mihi hīc loquī liceat. ego vēra nōn tegam. timōrem nūllum habeō.

sīdera mē verbīs malīs laedere possunt. tamen nōn vēritātem occultō. pectus meum vērum aperiam.

hīs rēbus nōn tam laetor. ā capite dominae meae semper absum. dolor meus magnus est.

ōlim domina mea virgō erat. tum aquā dulcī nōn ūtēbātur. ego tamen cum eā multa mīlia diērum vīxī.
